An Update from Penang

08 Oct 2013 | Hits: 342

I arrived into Penang on the 5th, the flight was pretty good I had a stop over in lovely Singapore. Singapore Air port is my best airport, with so much shopping, food and things to see and do to kill time during the long hours of stop over’s.

I’ve been on the island for 3 days and have fully adopted my self-absorbed preparation mode. The training/preparation routine: Eat, sleep, train, stretch & repeat in any order.

So far it’s all been smooth sailing apart from having to move rooms yesterday. I had been woken up the first 2 nights around 2am with loud talking, cigarette/cigar fumes and shouting and laughter from the next-door neighbors. I put a little complain in to reception and they called us back yesterday afternoon with an upgrade. Yes please, sometimes it does pay off to speak up and complain about things. ☺

We (Christine Nunn Christine’s Mum Patricia and I) had the afternoon off yesterday and decided lets get out and about and see some of Penang. We jumped into a taxi and the taxi driver said where would you like to go? We replied with we don’t know. We would like to see some of Penang what do you suggest?! He took us into George Town and dropped us off at the Heritage Jewel of Penang. The Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi Clanhouse as the locals call it. It is truly a unique heritage site with detailed craftsmanship from a bygone era not easily found anywhere else today.

Qualifying round 1 started yesterday with 2nd round this afternoon and then followed by the opening ceremony. I start playing tomorrow afternoon. I’ll keep you all updated on how I go. Until next time, here is a photo drop of Penang so far.
