South Australia, here I come!

06 Jun 2013 | Hits: 731

Sorry for a little lack of blogging recently but I've just been bum up and head down preparing for a few events to be held in South Australia as well as a few exciting life events like moving house and my brothers wedding. I wasn't neglecting my blog on purpose. I am ticking along and enjoying life! So I guess we have a lot to catch up on!

First off, I am currently in Tanundra. I arrived here today flying from Brisbane and catching a lift from Adelaide to the most famous wine region in Australia, Barossa Valley. Its going to be hard to keep myself away from wine tasting and stay focused on my squash tournament, but I guess if I find myself having a terrible match and loosing then I guess I am in the perfect area to drown my sorrows! The qualifying rounds started today and my first match is tomorrow afternoon at 1pm. I am pretty excited to play and see how my recent training pays off.

In preparation to this event I have had some recent clumsy accidents on the court and in the gym. I got hit in the face with a racket during one of my weekly competition matches and received an awesome black eye. Just as my eye cleared up I then gave myself a few other bruises as I missed my box jump in the gym 2 days ago, scrapping my left shin and cutting that while gracefully apparently (it did not feel graceful) going ass over tit.

Apart from the odd mishap, things are great!  I am training at full volume and looking forward to the 2 tournaments this week.  No pressure, just getting out there and giving it a good effort and wherever that takes me, I'm happy with for now!  But focus, determination and experience will be the thinking process tomorrow when I am out there on that court.

I am staying with Selena Shaikh in a motel called the Barossa Valley Junction Motel, we were escorted to our room and very surprised to see our motel rooms are these unique old railway carriages.

Well wish me good luck everyone and watch this space for the results of the Barossa Valley Toyota and the SA Open over the next 10 days.
