I have just returned to Brisbane after 15 days in Tully, North QLD with my family.  It was a great 2 weeks away - loads of visits to my favorite place Mission Beach, visiting relatives Nana and Nunno, followed by loads of great home cooking and fresh seafood.  On top of this of course there had also been the normal training activities  - running along the beach, strength work, a few bike sessions and a game of doubles with some great friends at the Tully Squash Courts.  Having in mind that I have my first tournament back starting on the 24th of January so I didn't want to indulge too much on the holiday festive of alcohol and wicked wicked food.  I'm happy to say I was pretty good and my will power was reasonably strong with having a little, but not too much of the good stuff!

My boyfriend and i have decided to try the Paleo Diet to just flush our systems out from the holiday season indulgences and get the year started with added boost of energy and to get the body working as best as possible.  Today is our 2nd day into the diet and it has been a huge success so far with such great yummy tasting recipes.   I thought it would be interesting to share my own experience with now being back to full time training who's followed several different types of eating plans over the years to how the Paleo goes :)

The Paleo diet is primarily focusing on eating high nutrient non toxic foods that nourishes the body, as a general rule food that you can't imagine hunting or gathering is not Paleo..

The basic rules of The Paleo Diet

  • All the lean meats, fish and seafood you can eat
  • All the fruits and non-starch vegetables (when training add sweet potato, kumera and yam)
  • No cereals
  • No legumes
  • No dairy products
  • No Processed foods

Last nights dinner was a success and it was very very tasty, I got to say one of the best curries I've eaten!

Turkey Gren Curry.
