My Story
Robert is a Professional squash player from Portsmouth, England. Otherwise known as Robbie, he is pushing to make a big impression on the PSA world tour, aspiring to one day join the elite group of player's he has followed since a child. Robert started playing in 1996 aged 4.5 years old with a cutdown wooden racket, one year later a full size lightweight racket became a turning point and at 6.5 years old he was capable of playing to the rules with stunning power. It was at this age he joined Lee-on-Solent squash club, competing with and beating boys 3-4 years older. Aged 10.5 Rob was nationally ranked in the top 20 at under 13 age group and had his first invite to a National squad. Since then he has 6 Hampshire county junior championships through all junior age group's and also won the Hampshire county mens title in October 2009. In his junior career his main highlights were reaching Number 1 In England at u'17 level, and number 2 at u'19. From age 14 he began competing in the European Junior circuit, winning 7 titles one of which was the super series "Swiss junior open" back in December 2010. He reached best ranking's of Number 2 u'17s and Number 1 at u'19's on the European ranking list. Robert was selected to play for England four times, with ultimate achievement of being an active part in winning the European under 19 team championship in Vienna in April 2010. He is now finished with his studies where he gained a BTEC National diploma in sport at Chichester college. During his stay there he won the British National college squash championships aged 17. Following this Robert embarked on to the Professional Squash Association World Tour, rising rapidly from 418 to a present 147. His short term aim is to break into the top 100!
